Everyone’s Saying Adult Friendships Are Hard—Do This

I’m weirdly passionate about adult friendships, mostly because no one teaches us how to do them.
As kids, friendships just happen. You sit next to someone in class, or play on the same team, and boom! BEST FRIENDS. But as adults? It feels awkward. You want deeper friendships, but how do you even start? You can’t exactly walk up to someone at the park and say, “Hey, want to be my best friend?”
Here’s the good news: friendships aren’t magic. They’re built. And there’s actual research, practical strategies, and even some scripts that make it so much easier.
🎯 In this episode we riff on:
↠ Why adult friendships feel harder than childhood friendships
↠ The research: how many hours it really takes to move from acquaintance → friend → best friend
↠ Why you don’t need one “perfect best friend” (and how to build a friendship portfolio instead)
↠ How to practice showing up, even messy and awkward
↠ Catchphrases and conversation starters that actually work
↠ How to move past surface-level small talk and into deep, lasting connection
↠ Why vulnerability is the key to being fully seen in your friendships
↠ The quirky mindset shift that helps me revive friendships, even after 10 years apart
